Gathering as a Wave Crest
It is easy to miss synchronicities. A linked network of Pulse as sign of interest in meeting, guides ways to self-organize at Kairos meeting places and times. The dossier portfolio contains an author’s typical schedule, or a codex author posts a latest desired schedule for group gatherings. This epiphenomenon of nascent interest is like the swelling of an ocean wave whereupon the interplay may form a crest.
Timing to meet is influenced by ongoing local activity — the onset of a weekend parade, for example — and a group might opt to meet the morning of a parade in a nearby waffle house.
Availability can expand for groups more meaningful to you. This flow — fluid in time — lets you, like an artist mid-breath, remain co-creating a storyline in a group and free to continue the thread when a Pulse arrives from another group bubbling into gathering.

This single idea may appear crude, yet it follows the ways of nature. The fundamental principle — that Makers are free to fulfill roles as they choose — still applies. However, in the case of a Maker who serves as a household breadwinner, scheduling can help prevent them from being left out of a preferred Factory site.
In a company, we normally think of things in rigid blocks of time, as though a co-worker’s time and relationships with co-scheduled workers were irrelevant.
For greater fluidity in scheduling, imagine any Maker being able to set or adjust their work schedule up to fourteen days in advance, at any time.
Let’s say twenty or more Makers have recently been operating a Gubee, with only three to five able to be present at any one time. When a Maker changes their schedule, other Makers — in the order of their Affinity Vote Rank — may also adjust theirs, with the only criterion being that higher-ranked Makers’ schedules are honored first.
This allows the principle of “preferential attachment,” described by Barabási, to arise naturally — echoing Leonard Nimoy’s words as Spock: “The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few.”
It forms a Game Theory arrangement that finds meaning at the tipping point of critical mass — or, in this case, the number of Makers.

Interestingly, at the inception of the Create Innovate Paradigm through a blog around 2001, no one I spoke with seemed to understand the evolving philosophies—except for the hired fellow who later became a friend. I fancy the number seven as a glyph. Seven relates to spirituality and cycles: the moon with seven days in a quarter-moon cycle; completion, wisdom, reflection, introspection, and hidden knowledge — mirroring deep water: calm on the surface but full of unseen movement below.
The seventh book will be an Aetherform-driven search-engine Factory, joined at the hip to a craft-shipping Factory — one nourishing the other — that invites the spawning of supporting Factories as a CiPAE based Federated Factory. In addition to a social platform as a Liminal Atelier Continuum—one designed to financially empower content makers through the search and craft Factories.

It is nearly time to build a Factory run by people in real life. Although I choose primarily to remain the dreamer guiding its creation, I envision hopping between roles across varied Factories—not only for enjoyment but also as touchpoints to evolve the AE Paradigms. Imagine waking one morning to take a shift in a Pastry Factory by the town square, and by evening serving in a Beer Factory with a river view—then, after the shift, relaxing on a riverfront patio chair with a fellow co-Maker, sipping to a “free as in beer,” beer, as software developers say, courtesy of CiPAE.
This paradigm valorizes practice over credentialism, adaptability over static specialization, and learning through varied contextual work rather than a single safe path.
Federated Factories across countries could enable two-week work stays that enliven cultural immersion while sustaining finances without skip — having two-week work stays in a Sevenly Space Sustainable Tiny House Commune Factories. Cross‑pollination of ways of being and doing can contribute immensely to the AE paradigms.
An artist, entrepreneur, or scientist wishing to meet kindred spirits while taking a flowing career hiatus may find themselves in a Factory in another country, experiencing firsthand the crafting of products; the dynamics of sales for a particular item in the warehouse; or the lived subtlety of being an interlocutor-seller, gauging customers’ reactions as part of a shared narrative to the item. They might choose instead to work on a fishing boat, learning net techniques, the rhythms of the labor, how fish-based foods are woven into the Makers’ family lives, and the stories of seasonal bounty and depletion. After releasing a climate post, I sat under a midnight supermoon — a moon silently witnessing eons of Earth life. Before and after our “visible life” Phanerozoic eon (multicellular organisms began 541 million years ago), recorded history from 3400 BCE in ancient Mesopotamia and Egypt, the first civilizations to develop true writing, philosophies and empires rose and collapsed.
In what ways can we honor the evolution of life at the crescent point of our 5,500 years of recorded history? The earliest signs of human-caused warming became detectable around the 1830s — at the onset of the Industrial Age nearly two hundred years ago — representing 0.00000037 percent of “visible life” on Earth — a little over one-thousandth of a second on a Phanerozoic eon clock.
Diogenes of Babylon (the Stoic), the Stoic born in Seleucia of the Hellenistic period (2nd century BCE), taught living in harmony with nature by using reason (logos) and the rational order of the universe. What would he say about humanity’s flagrant regard for nature and the onset of climate warming at this one-thousandth of a second on the Phanerozoic eon clock? In the eyes of Shakespeare, this crescent play nears a finale with climate warming and an AI singularity. It is our moment to begin a new opening act — an Age of Sentience — to embrace spiritual architectures. As an antidote to Einstein’s observation that technology has exceeded our humanity, we will need to navigate to honor nature — we are nature.

So, you may wonder—more fluffy dreams in clouds? A grandparent who dreams of a grandchild, now a young adult, getting a break in the workplace may choose to seed-invest. When Makers can tweak vote-ranks, shift work, or leave, motivated reasoning may endear the Maker closer to nature. Sentient Continuums are designed to be self-sustaining, transparent, and adaptive.
A Maker navigating the spiritual architectures of care and attention — even in something as grounded as a plumbing service in a small town — may avoid ill-fitted clients or mismatched work. Within a Continuum, a customer can quickly resonate with a more appropriate list of service Makers, relieving them of the drudgery of scouring endless directories. And because resonance guides match-making, a service Maker might choose to pass on a customer with no friction; another Maker, naturally aligned, steps in seamlessly.
In small towns, people have fewer options when seeking work, and this scarcity exposes the toddler-like spiritual fiction embedded in the Industrial Age notion of “owning a business.” In truth, the workers who carry the labor have always been the proprietors of their own lived experience. Within a Factory structure — with CiPAE’s fluid apprenticeships, cross-domain learning, and dignified pathways — the number of Makers in a small town could grow from 10 plumbers to 15–20 within a year, and with modest marketing perhaps to 25–30 within two or three years, many working part-time.
A Maker in that Plumbing Factory might choose to spend a single hour every Friday morning surrounded by the sweet scent of flowers in a Florist Factory, then hop over to a nearby Coffee Shop Factory to serve as a barista for another hour — and afterward relax on the patio with a complimentary latte — all while still contributing meaningfully to the communal crafts.
These scenarios are entirely possible in a small town. Sentient Continuums aim to be humane and self-sustaining; pay and work adapt fluidly across contexts, meeting people where their resonance naturally flows.

A Little Neural Story in a Big One
c. 1990
In the early nighties,
during work at a neuroscience lab
that was studying gamma brain waves
at the Salk Institute in La Jolla, CA,
a disillusionment overcame me.
I was still releasing ET Neural Networks
and NeuroKit —
the real and the artificial
caught in a widening chasm.
Researchers there, and at nearby UCSD,
were contributing to the Connection Machine hypercube —
up to 65,536 simple,
single-bit processors
linked in a hypercube network,
laying the groundwork,
along with an MIT team,
for early parallel algorithms for AI.
Saturated with anything brain-related,
I had to leave the neurosciences
for a vacation anywhere on the planet,
to see the world anew.
Upon landing in Spain
and settling into a Madrid hostel,
after a lackadaisical visit to the Prado
and a walk to nearby park where a flamenco guitar
found a passerby family mom and child twirling,
as they continued walking.
The evening found me wandering
a narrow cobblestone road at dusk,
where, a candle-lit solemn procession
of Catholic adorned devotees, three to five abreast,
stepped slowly toward me,
embracing liturgical ornamented poles,
and chanting in solemn tones.
Moving forward to step aside in an enclave,
my backpack pressed against a plaster wall, I witnessed
— a foot away from me at times —
tessellations of shiny articles
dancing in the candle flames across white robes:
a people of God embodying faith.
A glorious sense overcame me
as the procession thinned.
Then, directly before me,
just a few paces away,
stood the home
— marked by inscription —

Overwhelmed,
pain for a plea to the universe
overcame me for something far deeper
than our anthropomorphic take on sentience
— something beyond the cold logic

This was quickly followed
by a surreal joy:
